       In the 1920 U. S. Federal Census, Gertrude E. (Pruitt) Adams is a 37 year old, white, married female. She is married to Ira Frank Adams. She reads, writes, and speaks English. She has no employ outside the home. She lives with her husband, Ira F., and four children (Reginald, Mildred, Lillian, Robert) at 1301 Superior, Webster City, Boone Township, Hamilton County, Iowa.        In the 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Gertrude (Adams) is found in Independence Township, Hamilton County, Iowa. She is the wife of Ira F. Adams. She is a 47 year old, white, female, most likely the mother of Lillian and Robert, but not of Reginald. Reginald is 23. Gertrude has been married to Ira since she was 21 years old. She is able to read, speak, and write English. She was born in Kansas of parents who were both born in Illinois. She has no occupation outside the home. [ RA 01.]
       In the book, Some Descendants of Jessie Adams 1789-1844, , p. 53, Charlotte Schmidt has included an obituary without attribution. It is reproduced below:
       "Mrs. Adams dies at 85
       Mrs. Frank (Gertrude) Adams, 85, mother of Mrs. Harold Entriken of Rural 1, Webster City, died Monday evening at the Golden Age Nursing home in Webster City. She had been in failing health for several years.
       Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. S. W. Cunningham officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.
       Gertrude Elsie Pruitt, daughter of the Rev. Alonzo and Josephine Pruitt, was born Nov. 6, 1882, at Glen Elder, Kan. She came to Iowa with her parents when she was eight years old. She attended schools at Stuart, Iowa, and was graduated from high school there. She later moved with her parents to Webster City and taught school for several terms in the schools southwest of Webster City.
       She was united in marriage Jan. 8, 1905 to Ira Franklin Adams, at Ames, and the couple resided at Eagle Grove and later at Fort Dodge where Mr. Adams was a Railway Express agent. in 1912, the family moved to Webster City where Mr. Adams was Railway Express agent until his retirement in 1940. In 1942, the family moved to Des Moines where the couple resided until Mr. Adams' death March 28, 1951. Mrs. Adams continued to reside in Des Moines until 1958, when she moved to Jackson, Mich., where she made her home with a daughter, Miss Lillian Adams, returning to Webster City in 1965.
       Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Franklin Adams, who died in infancy; by her parents; and one brother, Dwight Pruitt.
       She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Reginald G. Adams, Evanston, Ill., Robert Adams of Des Moines, Mrs. Harold (Mildred) Entriken, Webster City, and Miss Lillian Adams of Jackson, Mich.; three grandchildren, Mrs. L. W. (Charlotte) Schmidt, Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Robert (Marlys) Klein, Des Moines, and David Entriken, Webster City; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Grant, Anaheim, Calif., and Mrs. Roy Cannon, San Diego, Calif.
Mrs. Adams was a member of the Methodist church. [GerEP 01.]
